NEW MUSIC + DISCOVERIES
A running alphabetized list of artists we've recently tagged on-air as new music or a discovery. (In other words: stuff we're excited about right now.)

Tip: if a link is slow, blame your dial-up. If the link is fast, blame the future.
Artists (A to Z)
One or two sentences each. No hype. OK, a little hype.

  • Alejandro Escovedo -- Texas songwriter-rock with a poet brain and a road-worn heart. We spun him as new music, and it fits the Radio M mission like it was custom-made. more
  • Billie Myers -- A newer chapter from a voice you might remember from the last few years, but the songwriting keeps getting sharper. more
  • Bela Fleck and the Flecktones -- Yes, the banjo guy. No, not in a "hee-haw" way. This is virtuosic, playful, and weirdly addictive. more
  • Cinerama -- A Radio M discovery with that bright/bittersweet indie-pop pulse: the kind of band that makes you sit up and go "wait -- who is this?" more
  • Delbert McClinton -- New music from a lifer who's still got grease under the nails. Blues/soul/roots that sounds like it's been lived in (because it has). more
  • Death Cab for Cutie -- Brand new and already giving "future classic" vibes: smart, intimate indie-rock with melodies that sneak up on you. more
  • Eliza Carthy -- New album energy from the UK folk universe: traditional bones with a modern voice and a sly edge. more
  • Emmylou Harris -- When a legend drops a "latest" that feels like a statement, we pay attention. Luminous songs, grown-up ache, zero filler. more
  • John Gorka -- New disc, classic craft: the kind of writing that doesn't show off, it just quietly hits you in the ribs. more
  • The Januaries -- A newer Radio M add: jangly, sweet, and a little off-kilter in the best way. If you like your pop clever (not cute), start here. more
  • Jonatha Brooke -- New music with that "smart songwriter + open windows" feel: human, hooky, and emotionally precise without getting precious. more
  • Manic Street Preachers -- New music that's loud enough to wake the neighbors but thoughtful enough to keep you listening after the chorus. more
  • Orbital -- New music from the electronic side of our universe: big, cinematic, and built for nights when the dashboard lights feel like a cathedral. more
  • Over the Rhine -- A Radio M new music discovery that lives in the space between hymn, noir, and late-night poetry. more
  • Pizzicato Five -- New and impossible not to smile at: candy-colored retro-pop that's way smarter than it pretends to be. more
  • Roland Orzabal -- New solo music from one-half of Tears for Fears: familiar voice, different angle, still plenty of bite. more
  • Saint Etienne -- New music for the "headphones on, city lights blurred" mood: pop craftsmanship with a cool electronic shimmer. more
  • 808 State -- New music with classic electronic DNA: club-smart and experimental without turning into homework. more
  • Van Morrison (with Linda Gail Evans) -- New music from a name you already know, but with a fresh angle and a little extra fire. more
  • Zero 7 -- A Radio M discovery out of England (and yes, we're already obsessed): warm downtempo grooves that feel like sunrise through blinds. more
